Outer Dowsing Offshore Wind Launched Autumn Consultation (20/10/23)

Outer Dowsing Offshore Wind has launched its fourth round of consultation for the project and is inviting local communities and consultees to provide their feedback.

Outer Dowsing Offshore Wind is a proposed 1.5 GW wind farm that is being developed 54km (33 miles) off the Lincolnshire coast by TotalEnergies, Corio Generation and Gulf Energy Development.

Underground cables would carry the power from a landfall site at Wolla Bank to a new onshore substation in the vicinity of Surfleet Marsh. This will in turn connect into the main transmission network via new infrastructure to be owned and operated by National Grid plc.

This round of consultation aims to seek feedback on Outer Dowsing Offshore Wind’s updated project plans in preparation for their DCO application which will be submitted in Q1 2024.

Chris Jenner, Outer Dowsing Offshore Wind Development Director said:

“The Outer Dowsing Offshore Wind project and the renewable energy it will produce will become an essential component of the UK’s net-zero energy system, delivering opportunities and empowering transformational environmental change. One of our overarching goals is to have a net positive impact on the local environment by avoiding, minimising or offsetting impacts wherever practicable. The feedback from consultees to date has helped us to refine our proposals with this in mind and we look forward to receiving feedback during our Autumn Consultation to further develop our Project.”

The team have offered a range of ways for communities and consultees to provide feedback on the project plans including information in local public spaces, an online exhibition, webinars and public information events to be held at five locations across Lincolnshire.

The details of the in-person events and webinars can be found below. No booking is required.

About Outer Dowsing Offshore Wind

Outer Dowsing Offshore Wind is a 1.5GW project being developed approximately 54km (33miles) off the Lincolnshire Coast.

The project is being developed by Corio Generation, TotalEnergies and Gulf Energy. Upon completion, it will be one of the UK’s largest offshore wind farms. It is anticipated to generate renewable electricity equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of over 1.6 million households and will play a critical role in achieving the UK Government’s ambition to deliver 50 GW of offshore wind by 2030 and achieve net zero by 2050.

Outer Dowsing Offshore Wind will displace the equivalent of nearly 2 million tonnes of CO2 emissions per year of operations through the generation of renewable electricity.

The Outer Dowsing Offshore Wind project and the renewable energy it will produce will become an essential component of the UK’s net-zero energy system, delivering opportunities and empowering transformational environmental change.
